Em inglês, utiliza-se o ponto e vírgula (semicolon):     1   para separar frases gramaticalmente independentes, mas que estão intimamente ligadas: John went into the classroom; the teacher and the other students were already there; the lesson had already begun.   She studied really hard; she is determined to pass the exam.     2   para separar uma lista de palavras, expressões, ou orações subordinadas: I would like to thank the following people: Mr John Smith, the managing director; Mrs Janet Brown, the financial director; and Miss Susan Powell, the secretary.   It's good to know that you're back; that I can count on you; and that I'm not alone.
